Resumo

Concern regard environmental quality and human health demands wastewater treatment technology and in this treatment, sewage sludge is generated. This sewage sludge, after a properly microorganism reduction and physically conditioning, is usually known as biosolid. One of the alternatives to the final destination of this waste is the its application in agricultural land, as fertilizer. The objectives of this study were: biosolid multielemental characterization and determination of As, Cd, Sb and Th concentrations in sugar cane juice obtained from plant that was grown in soil treated with this biosolid. Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) was applied to evaluate the elemental concentrations. Elemental concentrations for As, Br, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Eu, Fe, La, Mg, Mn, Mo, K, Na, Sb, Sc, Sm, Th, Ti, U, V and Zn are presented for biosolid. Analysis of sugar cane juice showed no significant difference in the concentration of As, Sb, and Th with the doses of biosolid (0; 3.6; 7.2 and 10.8 t.ha–1, dry base), except for Cd, at the dose of 10.8 t.ha–1.
