Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Only previously unpublished articles may be submitted. This means that the article has not been published in any other journal, whether national or foreign. However, there are no restrictions on articles that have been presented and/or published in annals of scientific events, provided the name, date and place of the event are duly indicated, in a footnote in the text.
  • The article is not being evaluated for publication in another journal, nor will it be, during the evaluation process of the Applied Tourism.
  • Each paper, under the form of article or expanded resume, will only be accepted with a maximum of 3 authors. The first author will be responsible for its submission and maintenance in this system.

Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR PAPER EDITING

1. A4 sheet; text editor Word Windows XP or later.

2. Margins: 3 cm (top and left); 2 cm (bottom and right).

3. Line spacing: 1.5.

4. Text alignment: justified.

5. Paragraphs: justified, without indentation on the first line. spacing between paragraphs before/after of 6 pt, and among main items, double-spaced.

6. TITLE: Source Arial / Calibri, size 14, bold, capital letters, centered. MAIN ITEMS: Arial / Calibri, 12, bold, capital letters. Sub: Arial / Calibri, 12, bold and initially capitalized. Other sub: Arial / Calibri, 12, italic. Text: Arial / Calibri, 12, regular; Long quotations, indented and notes: Arial / Calibri, 10, single-spaced.

7. Articles should be at least twelve (12) and a maximum of 25 (twenty-five) typed pages, including references, abstract with keywords, introduction, methodology, results, conclusions and attachments, following APA style.

8. The extended abstracts should be at least 03 (three) and at most five (05) typed pages, including references, abstract with keywords, introduction, methodology, results, conclusions and annexes, the following APA style. 

Below the paper's title should follow in sequence:

9. Summary, with no more than 200 words, containing the contextualization and the object of study, objectives, summary of the methodological procedures, and final results / conclusions considerations. Single spaced.

10. Keywords: In number of three (3) using the usual descriptors in the tourism sector and related, separated by a period.

11. Body of Work: Must be disposed unnumbered items, starting with the introduction. The titles and quantity of other items can be structured by the (s) author (s) as long as they contemplate the introduction, theoretical framework, methodological aspects, results and final considerations.

12. Notes: must be reduced to the minimum necessary and presented at the end of each page, in footnotes.

13. Citations in the body and list of corresponding references in the text of the final must be in accordance with APA style.

Post-textual elements

14. Illustrations and tables: These should only be cited in the body of work featuring headline and source and should be placed at the end of the text as an appendix / appendices (according to APA style).

15. Illustrations and tables that are not in Word or Excel format, must be sent via email in JPEG format, high resolution (minimum 300 DPI). If the same can not be produced in high resolution, it should be excluded from work.

16. If photos are used, people can not be identified, except with their formal permission.
