Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is the most popular cooking gas used in Brazil. In cities where most homes do not have piped gas, residents make use of gas bottles, which should be changed regularly. For safety, the gas bottles are manufactured in carbon steel and are opaque; so it is not possible to view the contents of the package. In this way, many users have trouble to know how much gas is left in the bottle. This work presents a platform, named SmartGas, that uses a hardware support to be placed under the gas bottle that send data to a mobile app and informs the user how much gas is left and alert potential leaks.
