ABSTRACT
Technologies have advanced quickly over the years, and with
that, it becomes increasingly diverse every day. One technology
increasingly being explored is virtual assistants, which emerged
to make it easier for users to interact with their smartphones.
Along with this technological advancement, the number of
elderly people has grown exponentially in recent years, and tend
to increase even more. Furthermore, this part of the population
is having a greater interest in using these new technologies due
to the ease generated. For this reason, they must be accessible to
users of all ages. This research aims to evaluate the usability of
Google Assistant and Siri virtual assistants, focusing on elderly
users. The main results were that the elderly, even taking longer
than the participants of the other groups evaluated, found that
the virtual assistants facilitated the accomplishment of the tasks.
Some factors that influenced the results of the performance of
the elderly were the loss of cognitive and motor skills due to age
and previous experience with the use of technology.
