ABSTRACT
Class scheduling presents a recurring challenge each semester in educational
institutions. Frequently, the methodologies and tools used
in creating class schedules do not meet the needs of stakeholders,
leading to considerable dissatisfaction and potential conflicts among
the team. This project aims to demonstrate a human-centered approach
by employing design thinking in action, through a detailed
report on the methods and techniques used in the collaborative
development of a school scheduling prototype. The design process
included three primary phases: immersion, ideation within
constraints, and evaluation of the proposed solution. As a result, a
versatile and functional prototype was developed, undergoing three
evaluative interactions: heuristic evaluation, First Click analysis,
and System Usability Scale (SUS) testing. As evaluations progressed,
the prototype underwent the necessary modifications, showcasing
its evolution within a user-centered process. This functional prototype
is the main outcome of this research. Furthermore, this study
seeks to contribute to encouraging and demonstrating the use of
the design thinking process in the development of a software tool
