ABSTRACT
This study aims to provide relevant information on the process of
creating a board game based on the main characteristics of
Alzheimer's disease. During the research step, it was considered
that approximately 2% to 4% of elderly people over the age of 65
are affected by this disease. This project aims to raise awareness
of the disease, with a focus on reflection and empathy through
game design, as there is a stigma hanging over the elderly with
Alzheimer's disease, caused by ignorance and lack of knowledge,
leading them to social exclusion. A mixture of three design
methodologies was used in its development: Munari's method,
Andrew Looney's game development process, and Brian Winn's
DPE (Design, Play and Experience) methodology. In the end, it
was possible to balance the concepts of play and empathy in the
game "Once Upon a Time".
