ABSTRACT
The presence of women in computer science and information technology (IT) fields is still lower than that of men, and this is also the case in the Bachelor of Software Engineering (ESO) program at UDESC Alto Vale, Ibirama campus. With the aim of welcoming, retaining, and encouraging female students and graduates of ESO, the Valerinas group was created in September 2023, as a project partner of Meninas Digitais from SBC (Brazilian Computing Society). This article reports on the experience of creating and leading the Valerinas: the organization team's meetings to define objectives, the first open meeting with the participation of 34 women, subsequent meetings, and future plans to support girls in the Alto Vale do Itajaí region.
