ABSTRACT
The deaf community is a significant portion of Brazilian society.
However, many online educational contents are not always inclusive,
especially for deaf students in technical areas, such as computer
science. Therefore, the lack of adequate inclusion strategies
results in poor learning for the deaf public. This paper proposes
an online glossary in Libras for computer science whose terms
are associated with videos that explain their meaning. This paper
presents the following contributions: 1) self-construction capacity
that is visiting online glossaries to consult and extract new terms
for the students’ database; and 2) production of explanatory videos
containing computer science expressions. The objective of the prototype
is to reduce the inclusion barrier for deaf students since
many are not literate in Portuguese. The results found highlight
the importance of the proposal as a viable alternative to promote
accessibility for the deaf academic community.
