This article presents the development of an educational game aimed
at teaching and assisting higher education students with learning algorithms
and programming. Due to the significant problem-solving
difficulties faced by students, the low pass rates in algorithms and
programming courses, and a gap in games that cover this content,
a game was developed to provide an interactive environment to
experience different ways of teaching abstract concepts of algorithms,
maintaining its focus on Portugol Studio’s syntax, as well
as to serve as a tool to support teaching and learning of algorithms
and programming courses. The assessment that determined the
relevance of this game was conducted following game evaluation
models proposed in scientific studies, the model focused on evaluating
criteria such as motivation, UX and learning value. The
educational game was positively evaluated by university students
who make part of the target audience and was considered relevant
with its proposal.
