ABSTRACT
Knowing the levels of sugar ingested in foods and beverages is
essential for health, given its relationship with various diseases
such as obesity and diabetes, among others. Using portable devices
for measuring sugar in beverages aims to raise awareness and alert
people about excessive sugar consumption. This work presents
a systematic literature review (SLR) conducted using the PICO
methodology and managed with the Parsifal tool to identify new
methods and portable devices for measuring sugar in beverages
commonly consumed by the population. Seven papers were selected
for a more in-depth analysis, showing that the most commonly used
techniques for this application are electrochemical techniques using
immersion electrodes and non-visible light through Near-Infrared
Spectroscopy. Only one study briefly addressed using the Internet
of Medical Things to share results. The study aims to present the
current academic scenario by mapping technologies and opening
new research possibilities.
