SIGWeb: Uma Aplicação Web para Visualização de Dados Geoespaciais sobre Desastres Ambientais

    Data de publicação: 09/06/2026

The 2024 floods in Rio Grande do Sul generated extensive geospatial data whose complexity and dispersion hinder analysis and decisionmaking by non-specialists. This work addresses that gap through the development of SIGWeb, a web application designed to simplify the visualization and integration of geographic information, with emphasis on WMS layers and Shapefile data. The methodology involved standard software engineering steps, using JavaScript and Leaflet for the interface and PostGIS with GeoServer for storage and distribution of geospatial layers. The system enables reading, rendering, and interactive exploration of map data through an intuitive interface. Results from a case study with real 2024 flood data demonstrate the application’s ability to reliably load and display multiple information layers, including municipal boundaries and flood-related features. SIGWeb proves to be an effective tool that bridges technical data and end users, lowering the technological barrier to situational awareness during crises and reinforcing the relevance of Information Systems in disaster management.
