This paper addresses the challenge of teaching Brazilian Portuguese (BP) phonetics, a difficulty compounded by the lack of transcription tools that adequately account for dialectal variations. The proposed solution was to develop an automatic phonetic transcriber for pedagogical purposes. To validate it, three conditions for effectiveness were established: to symbolically represent speech sounds, to show the phonetic environment of vowels, and to indicate the corresponding dialect. These conditions were met by the results, which had a 97.29% accuracy. The study concludes that the transcriber is more suitable for teaching than its online counterparts, as it provides more detailed transcriptions that are more faithful to specific BP pronunciations, thereby surpassing existing generalist tools.
