COPING ESTRATEGIES OF YOUNG WORKERS AGAINST ABUSIVE POWER RELATIONS IN ORGANIZATIONS

Professionals react in different ways when faced with situations that lead to embarrassment in the workplace. This study therefore analyzes the coping strategies of young professionals, when faced with power relations established in organizations, from the perspective of professionals of Association X, which trains young people for the job market. An exploratory case study was carried out, using a qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews with a semi-structured script, which was applied to twenty-one professionals of Association X. The data were then submitted to content analysis. It was observed that that coping strategies of young workers focus on the problem or emotion, and some of them develop coping strategies based on direct confrontation with their superiors. It was also seen that knowledge, experience, job function and punishment are sources of power that directly involve young people in their work environment. Finally, it was seen that in addition to being abused by their managers, these young people also suffer humiliation from interns.
