This paper demonstrates the advantages of using the software program NVivo® for qualitative analysis of text, sound, picture and video in organizational studies. This software is still little used in Brazil, especially in organizational studies. The use of software in quantitative research is not new; however, its use has been limited in organizational studies in Brazil, where researchers traditionally adopt a qualitative approach. There is a need to overcome the analytical weaknesses, especially in relation to the manual process of organizing and analyzing qualitative data. In this logic, the structures and basic features of NVivo® are analyzed in this study, identifying the advantages of its use. It is concluded that NVivo® helps the researcher in each stage of the research process, particularly in the analyses, boosting and increasing their scope and depth, and enabling further exploration of the complexity of the data. Its use also aims to streamline and enhance the analytical material, facilitating the process of analysis in qualitative research conducted in organizational studies.
