• Abstract

    Knowledge of the journalistic community: similarities and differences between the notions of journalistic paradigm and habitus

    This article aims to systematize the similarities and differences between the notions of habitus, derived from the methodological framework of Bourdieu's constructivist structuralism (2004a, 2007), and the journalistic paradigm, constructed by Charron and Bonville (2016), appropriating the notion of paradigm originating from Thomas Kuhn's theory of scientific revolutions (2011). Both conceptions refer to knowledge shared by a social group, acquired from concrete social experience and internalized by individuals. Considering their similarities and distinctions, we reflect on the methodological potential of each of these conceptions for journalism research.
