Brief History
Turismo: Visão e Ação (TVA), affiliated with the Postgraduate Program in Tourism and Hospitality - Master's and Doctorate, is a scientific journal published annually in a continuous flow, interdisciplinary and internationally recognized, classified, according to Qualis/CAPES criteria (2017-2020), as 'A3' in the areas of Administration, Accounting, and Tourism.
Registered under ISSN number 1983-7151, the journal began its activities in 1998 with printed publications, in English and Portuguese versions. In 2008, it transformed into an online publication, maintaining a policy of being an open access journal without submission or access fees for articles. TVA's abbreviated title in the ISSN - Tur., Visão e Ação, is used in bibliographies, footnotes, references, and bibliographic captions.
In 2023, we celebrated 25 uninterrupted years of publication and set internationalization as a goal. There are many challenges to internationalizing a scientific journal, and among them is establishing partnerships to strengthen global visibility, aiming to promote the dissemination and recognition of national academic knowledge in other countries.
Starting from this year, 2024, we have adopted the continuous publication process (Rolling pass or Rolling publishing), representing a commitment to agility and immediate availability of research. This initiative aims not only to shorten the periods between submission and publication but also to enhance the efficient dissemination of knowledge, stimulating discussions and significant advancements in the field of Tourism.
In addition to transitioning to continuous publication, TVA reinforces its commitment to the practice of open science. We recognize the importance of making research widely accessible, considering it a cornerstone and promoting transparency and collaboration. By renewing our dedication to open science, we provide researchers with the opportunity to share their findings more broadly, expanding the impact of their contributions in the field of Tourism.
Compliance with Open Science
TVA is committed to the principles of Open Science, which promote collaborative, shared, and public scientific practice. Following these guidelines, TVA adopts several practices, including open access, editor guidelines, and the use of social networks to disseminate published works. Additionally, it requires clear identification of each author's role in articles with multiple authorship, encouraging the sharing of datasets, instruments, statistical analysis scripts, and additional materials in open repositories when they cannot be directly included in the article.
As a result, articles describing research must inform and reference the availability of resources underlying the study and the results obtained. TVA also encourages, when appropriate, the publication of preprint articles on public platforms, allowing open discussions before final publication. In this case, authors must inform the editor, at the time of submission, which platform was used and its status. The article will receive the same treatment in the peer review process.
Additionally, the contribution of section editors is acknowledged in published articles, and reviewers receive documentation of their work, being able to record their activities on certified platforms such as the Lattes platform. These practices reflect TVA's commitment to the principles of Open Science.
Upon article submission, authors must complete the Compliance with Open Science Form, accepting TVA's conditions regarding originality and agreement with open science.
Ethicis in Publication
TVA adopts policies of compliance with and promotion of ethics in scientific communication established by the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) and the Guide to Good Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication by SciELO.
Preventing negligence is also a crucial responsibility of the editor and editorial team: any form of unethical behavior, as well as plagiarism in any instance, is not accepted at TVA.
Authors submitting articles to the journal declare that their content is original and ensure that the work has not been published nor is it under review/evaluation in any other journal.
Furthermore, TVA is committed to ethics and quality in publication. We support standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in publishing in our journal: the author, the journal editor, the reviewers, and the editor. We do not tolerate plagiarism or any other unethical behavior. We recommend referring to our ethical conduct statement at the following link: (https://periodicos.univali.br/index.php/rtva/declaracao-de-conduta-etica).
FOCUS AND SCOPE
Turismo: Visão e Ação (TVA) is an interdisciplinary scientific journal affiliated with the Postgraduate Program in Tourism and Hospitality at UNIVALI. Its target audience includes researchers, professors, and students in graduate and undergraduate programs in Tourism and related areas, such as hospitality, gastronomy, hospitality, leisure, events, and others, as well as consultants, entrepreneurs, and professionals from public and private companies operating in these areas.
Access to the published content is open, and no submission, evaluation, or publication fees are charged. In this sense, we encourage the submission of manuscripts in the format of Scientific, Theoretical, or Theoretical-empirical Articles, both national and international, addressing relevant topics with provocative and innovative perspectives for the scientific development of Tourism and related fields. The content should demonstrate notable analytical depth and theoretical-methodological consistency and reflect the state of the art in knowledge production in the field.
Articles can be submitted in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and will be published in their original language. Submissions must be made electronically through the journal's platform, at the following link: (https://periodicos.univali.br/index.php/rtva/about/submissions).
It is a prerequisite that the submitted article is unpublished, meaning it has not been published (or is under evaluation) in any other national or international journal, proceedings, book chapters of any kind, or even made available on various social media platforms.
To avoid endogeneity and promote a diversity of topics and authorship, TVA adopts the policy of publishing one article per author/co-author per year. We emphasize that we do not charge any fees: access, submission, evaluation, editing, or publication. At the time of submission, the responsible author must complete and sign the Declaration of Originality.
Articles accepted for publication will be formatted using TVA's publication template and will receive a DOI identifier number.
