Collective Action in Tourism Regions: a study of the tourism circuits of Minas Gerais

    Published date:
The State of Minas Gerias has introduced a policy of tourism circuits, which seeks to bring together organizations located in a single tourism region, to form a tourism circuit. This work focuses on this policy of regionalization being adopted at federal and state levels, bringing a discussion on collective action for the management of tourism regions. For this purpose, a review was carried out of the literature on collective action, and a contextualization of the public tourism policies in Brazil, focusing specifically on the State of Minas Gerais. Next, it relates the topics studied with the way the tourism circuits of Minais Gerais operate. After the studies, it determined the influence of the size of the circuit and joint cooperation, as factors which promote its success, and the participation of its members. The discussion on collective action in tourism is recent. But it is believed that it is capable of promoting the efficient management of tourism regions.
