This article is a summary of a quantitative and qualitative study of the final report of a survey financed by the Government of the State of Santa Catarina and the University of Vale do Itajaí, through the selection of projects relating to the publication of Article 170 of March 2004. The above-mentioned survey focused on the conditions of the Hotel Park of Balneário Camboriú to receive and accommodate tourists with special needs. Data was collected from approximately ten percent of the accommodation businesses in the town, a total of eleven hotels, evaluated according to the guidelines of the Brazilian Tourism Institute (formerly Embratur), in terms of the physical and staff structure and focusing, in particular, on the conditions of access, circulation around the hotel, and full use of the social and accommodation areas. Based on the data obtained, an analytical discussion is presented here, on the accessibility of the hotel park in the town and the risks presented, together with some suggestions for reducing these risks, making tourism safer both for the tourists, and for business people in this area.
