THE CONCEPTUAL DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A SCIENTIFIC FIELD

The main objective of this work is to outline the longitudinal evolution of the conceptual dimension of education for entrepreneurship as a scientific field, and its characterization in the form of stages between the years 1990 and 2013. The study relied on co-word analysis to describe the invisible thematic interactions that exist between diferente time stages of the evolutionary process of education for entrepreneurship. For the bibliometric analysis, a sample was used consisting of 274 ISI articles published in major online newspapers, internationally recognized by the scientific community, indexed to Web of Science platform. The results reveal na eclectic, multifaceted and interdisciplinar field that has gone through the stages of embryonic growth, to maturity, and scientific maturity. The result also suggest important links between education for entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial intentions, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, the development of entrepreneurial skills, and cultural context.
