Sisteminha: A social technology for strengthening family farming

    Published date: 04/12/2025

This article assesses the socio-environmental and economic impacts of the Sisteminha, a social technology aimed at family farming, with a focus on food security, sustainable food production, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using the Ambitec-Agro methodology, the 2022 analysis indicated a significant impact (index 2,59), particularly in income generation, social inclusion, and food security. Implemented in 10 brazilian states, the Sisteminha had around 1.200 active units, with fish farming, poultry farming, and vegetable gardening as the most common modules, yielding an average net income of R$ 5.267,10 per family and a total economic impact exceeding R$ 4,4 million. Despite user satisfaction, challenges remain, including technical failures, limited technical assistance, and difficulties accessing quality inputs and credit. To enhance its positive effects, it is recommended to integrate the Sisteminha into public policies, strengthen technical and institutional support, and develop management and monitoring tools, fostering greater adoption and effectiveness of its impacts.
