Management plays a crucial role in organizing and guiding the dental services provided to the population, as well as in strengthening the healthcare network. This study aims to analyze the organizational structure of oral health management within the Healthcare Network of the municipalities in the coal-mining region of southern Santa Catarina, known as AMREC. This is a cross-sectional, quantitative, and descriptive study, with a census sample composed of twelve oral health managers from AMREC municipalities, conducted between November 2016 and March 2017. Data collection was carried out electronically (via web) using a semi-structured questionnaire developed through the “forms” tool of Google Drive. Among the participating managers, 41.7% were between 36 and 45 years old, and 83.33% reported sharing decision-making processes with their team members. Additionally, 58.33% reported having a strategic management system; for 75%, the dental needs of the population had not been assessed; and 66.67% stated that they did not conduct meetings or discussion circles between oral health management and the community. The main difficulty identified by participants was financial constraints, reported by 50% of them. The analysis of oral health management within the healthcare network of the coal-mining region revealed substantial organizational and managerial capacity. However, it is necessary to expand and strengthen participatory management and social oversight, as listening to the population’s actual needs will contribute to improving and reinforcing the entire oral healthcare network within Brazil’s Unified Health System.
