• Abstract

Space as an environment from the perspective of Malaguzzi and Affordance

    Published date: 24/02/2025

Malaguzzi is a well-known author in Early Childhood Education for having his pedagogical
ideas applied in children’s schools in Reggio Emilia, mainly regarding learning through experiences,
through projects. In its pedagogical model, the space acts as a third educator. Thus, the objective
of this study is to offer a different look at space from Malaguzzi’s perspective and the concept
of affordances in early childhood education, through bibliographical research. We realize that the
spaces that make up learning environments need to be designed in a way that promotes maximum
interaction and autonomy for children. An interaction that takes place through the child body in
movement. Within these spaces, the materialities and affordances that compose them are mobilizing
for the experience that will modify objects, equipment and, mainly, the subjects, in relationships of
    constant resignification.
