POST-GRADUATE TRAINING AND TEACHING IN HIGHER EDUCATION: MAPPING OF DISCUSSIONS ON TEACHING TRAINEESHIP RBPG/CAPES
Published date: 08/08/2013
This paper is part of a broader study and it is aimed at mapping the discussions about Teacher Training conveyed by the Revista Brasileira de Pós-graduação – RBPG (a Brazilian Journal of Post-Graduate Studies), journal connected to Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de nível Superior – CAPES. This journal was chosen as a source of investigation due to its connection with CAPES, a funding agency which established the Teacher Training for post-graduation programs in order to prepare master and PhD students to teach at higher education. The hypothesis for investigation is that CAPES, in the condition of agency responsible for prescribing the Teacher Training, has an important role in building its legitimacy and may play this role through RBPG, a journal under their responsibility. With the RBPG as a study source, a bibliographical research with descriptive and interpretative nature was carried out. The following question acted as a guideline: which discussions about the Teacher Training required by CAPES have been published in the RBPG? In order to present part of the study results, CAPES prescription about Teacher Training as well as the history of the Revista Brasilieira de Pós-Graduação are addressed. Also, the literature study about articles published by the RBPG on the subject is presented and discussed. Finally, based on the results, we highlight the importance of further studies on Teacher Training once this initiative has the potential to promote qualified learning on Higher Education teaching, one of the topics of interests of University Pedagogy
