LEARNING STYLES OF NURSING STUDENTS AT A UNIVERSITY IN COLOMBIA

    Published date: 08/07/2016

This research paper presents a study aimed at characterizing learning styles of nursing students at Universidad de Sucre (Colombia). In terms of methodology, it uses a quantitative approach. The database was formed using the responses of 212 students, selected through intentional sampling, who answered the CHAEA (Questionnaire Honey-Alonso Learning Styles) and the ILS (Inventory of Styles Learning) questionnaires. In order to make a more comprehensive characterization, the style preferences were identified from two models or types: the Gallego and Alonso (CHAEA) and Felder and Silverman (ILS) models. The results showed a preference for a balanced learning style, with the ILS model, and a reflective style, with the CHAEA. There was also a contradictory finding, namely, that the reflective style was absent in the ILS model.
