THE RESIGNIFICATION OF TEACHER TRAINING BASED ON AESTHETIC EXPERIENCES

    Published date: 23/03/2009
In this work we investigate the construction of aesthetic meanings and perceptions, i.e. the development of aesthetic awareness in a group of twelve elementary education teachers. This is a longitudinal research, carried out between 2004 and 2006, totaling six semesters. Fortnightly meetings were held, in which the teachers were able to have deep aesthetic experiences in the areas of literature, music and visual arts. The goals of these life experience meetings were to enable the teachers to become aware of the world of the senses, i.e. to be aware of their looking, their hearing, their feelings, and, simultaneously, enabling them to conceptually elaborate the experience. Each meeting was recorded on videotape, transcribed, and analyzed from a perspective of the historical and cultural psychology, in particular, the studies of Vygotsky and Bakhtin. The results discussed in this work relate to the meetings which focused on the themes of literature and music
