With great enthusiasm, we celebrate the arrival of another editorial year — Volume 28 of Turismo: Visão e Ação (TVA) — marking 28 uninterrupted years of dedication to the construction and dissemination of knowledge in the field of tourism and related areas. This historic milestone not only fills us with pride but also motivates us to go further: to improve, innovate, and lead pathways toward an even more inspiring future.
In 2026, maintaining our commitment to open science, we will continue with the continuous publication system and, as a new feature, we are grouping scientific articles into six thematic sections:
- Planning, Governance and Public Policies of Tourist Destinations:
This section will receive scientific articles related to destination management, including governance, public policies, sustainability, urban planning and territorial development, smart tourist destinations, destination image, environmental and territorial analysis, among others.
- Management of Tourism Organizations, Services and Tourist Behavior:
This section will cover themes related to the management of tourism organizations and businesses, including marketing, human resource management, finance, quality, logistics, services, tourism demand, tourism observatories, tourist experiences, tourist behavior, satisfaction and loyalty, as well as studies involving tourists and residents.
- Tourism, Space and Society:
This section will address themes related to environment, landscape, territory and society, including well-being, tourism safety, planning of tourist spaces, rural tourism, hospitality in the built environment, landscape, accessibility, heritage and tourism, hospitality and leisure, among others.
- Gastronomy, Culture and Experiences in Tourism:
This section will receive scientific articles related to gastronomy, food service and commensality, including ethnic and cultural gastronomy, food studies, food security, culture and social impacts, among others.
- Teaching, Research and Extension in Tourism:
Dedicated to scientific articles on tourism education and research, including case studies, active teaching methodologies, research methodologies and university outreach experiences in tourism.
- Trends and Challenges in Tourism and Hospitality:
An exclusive section for opinion essays and texts authored by invited researchers of recognized international authority, whose reflections enrich and expand scientific debate in the field of tourism and hospitality. These documents, in the Short Paper format, will be evaluated through desk review by the editorial team.
The submission process remains unchanged. However, authors are requested, at the time of submission, to indicate the most appropriate section for their manuscript among the first five options. During the initial evaluation (desk review), the editors may suggest reallocating the manuscript to another section if deemed more appropriate.
We open this edition with two articles authored by Brazilian researchers, from the cities of Caxias do Sul (RS) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Additional articles are currently in the editing phase and will be published in the next update, scheduled for February 2026.
Finally, we invite researchers in tourism and related fields to submit their scientific articles for the 2026–2027 publication cycle.
