Public Policies, Tourism Resources and Organizational Resources: the case of Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná

    Published date: 27/08/2008
The aim of this study is to analyze the public policies, and the organizational and tourism resources that exist in the municipal district of Foz do Iguaçu, in the State of Paraná. It seeks to identify the way in which local managers explore and/or promote the use of these resources, and to identify the existing organizational resources, and how these are being used. Finally, it examines whether these resources are articulated (organizational architecture) between the municipal tourism body, the public authorities (municipal, state and federal) and private local organizations. The study takes the Resourced Based Vision - RBV of Barney (1997) as its theoretical basis. The primary data was collected through semistructured interviews with the public managers who work in the town, noting their perceptions, together with the use of documentary analysis. From the data, we inferred that the main resource used in the conception and implementation of public policies was the articulation of resources or organizational architecture. Key words: Public Management in Tourism; Public Policies; Organizational Resources; Tourism Resources.
