    Interactive Technologies in Events: Trends, Benefits and Risks for Gastronomy Festivals

    Purpose – The present study aims to investigate the use of interactive technologies in gastronomic festivals, identifying the main trends, benefits and associated risks.

    Design/methodology/approach – A qualitative approach was adopted, based on semi-structured interviews with ten event industry specialists and documentary research on official websites. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis.

    Findings – The results indicated that the main technological innovations include virtual reality, augmented reality, NFC wristbands, and interactive applications, which enable immersive and personalized experiences. Furthermore, a growing integration of sustainability-oriented tools in event planning and execution was observed.

    Practical implications – Benefits are increased interactivity, operational optimization, and personalization of the audience experience.

    Originality/value – Risks such as digital exclusion and depersonalization of customer service due to automation were also identified.

    Research limitations – The study considers that the use of interactive technologies is essential to enhance the consumer experience and maintain the competitiveness of events in the current context.
