Regarding the process of evaluating articles submitted to Journal of Law Studies, it is characterized by a double evaluation system and involves two sequential steps: the desk review and the evaluation by the referees.
In the desk review, editors gather and analyze, without any identification of authors, the articles received to assess their relevance to the scope of the journal and their potential to significantly contribute to knowledge in the field of study of the scientific journal. When necessary, editors involve members of the scientific committee in this process.
When the submitted work does not comply with the journal's policies, the authors are informed of the decision, within thirty days from the date of submission. Articles approved in the desk review stage are forwarded to two experts who make up the journal's reviewer body for evaluation in the Double Blind Review system, or to external researchers selected for their knowledge of the article's area of study.
The reviewers are professors and researchers affiliated with stricto sensu graduate programs at national or international higher education institutions. The articles are evaluated based on the relevance of the topic studied, the quality of writing, the logical coherence of the theoretical review with the use of appropriate references, the adequacy of the methodological procedures, the depth and consistency of the analyses, the formulation of the conclusions, and the significance of the contributions, using a predefined evaluation form provided to the reviewers. This stage of the evaluation process may take up to three months, and at its conclusion, the authors are informed of the editorial decision.
What are the possible outcomes?
After the evaluation, the Editor will make the following decisions:
After making the requested adjustments and verifying them by the referees and editors, the articles are submitted to spelling, grammar and adaptation to the norms adopted by the journal and to the final editing of the document.
Note: If there are differences between the reviewers, the Editor may select a third reviewer or reject the manuscript.
