Data Protection Policy

Privacy Policy of the Electronic Journal Law and Politics (RDP)

When submitting or reviewing a scientific article for the Electronic Journal Law and Politics (RDP), your personal and contact information included in the journal’s Open Journal System (OJS) will be stored and used for the journal’s regular operations. The Editorial Board acknowledges the importance of protecting the personal information collected from users in the course of these services and adopts practices to ensure the security, integrity, and privacy of the collected and processed data.

Below, we detail our security policy regarding the handling of this information.

Collection of Personal Data by the Electronic Journal Law and Politics

The Electronic Journal Law and Politics (RDP) collects personal data in two ways:

  1. User Registration – When registering as a reader, author, or reviewer, users are asked to consent to providing certain personal information. This data is stored and used for the journal’s regular operations.

  2. Automatic Collection – Data is automatically collected through the website server as users browse the journal’s portal or access its content.

User Personal Data

To register with RDP, basic personal information is required, such as:

  • Email address, login, and password

  • First and last name

  • Institution/affiliation

  • ORCID

  • Language proficiency

  • Country of origin

  • Brief curriculum summary

This information helps us assess the journal’s reach and distribute content to users.

How Is the Data Used?

The data provided to the journal will be used exclusively for its services and will not be shared for other purposes or with third parties. Some statistical data may be generated (e.g., number of users by location, institution, or field of knowledge), but these reports are anonymized to prevent individual identification.

Reviewers’ data (name and email) may occasionally be shared with other scientific journals to expand the database of potential peer reviewers. Registered users or newsletter subscribers authorize the receipt of RDP communications.

How Do We Protect Your Data?

RDP takes appropriate precautions to secure collected user data, storing it in a database protected by firewalls and accessible only to the journal’s editor-in-chief and server administrators. Note that no data transmission method is entirely secure, and user browser precautions also play a role.

If you suspect any security breach, please notify us immediately. In case of unauthorized access or operational failures posing risks, we commit to informing affected users.

Will I Be Notified of Privacy Policy Changes?

Yes. RDP will notify all users of any significant changes to its privacy policy.

How Long Does RDP Retain My Data?

Your data will be retained unless you request deletion or withdrawal.

Does RDP Share My Data with Third Parties?

No. RDP prioritizes data confidentiality and prohibits third-party use or transfer. We do not engage in automated profiling or decision-making (e.g., targeted ads). Any user communications are human-driven and non-individualized.

Exception: Reviewer data (name and email) may be shared with other law journals to expand peer-reviewer databases.

Data Collected from Journal Access

Server-Access Data

Accessing RDP’s content is free and does not require personal data. However, as with any website visit, some data is shared with our server. For statistical analysis, we use Open Journal Systems (OJS), Google Analytics, and Matomo.

External Links

If you reach RDP via an external link, our system records this to assess the journal’s reach and effective dissemination methods.

File Downloads and Journal Access

When downloading files (e.g., PDF articles), the system records abstract views, full-text access, and download counts. This helps evaluate article popularity and provide feedback to editors, reviewers, and authors.

Cookies

Cookies are identifiers registered on your computer when accessing RDP or performing actions (e.g., downloading files). They help track accurate visit counts, distinguish new/returning users, and analyze browsing behavior to improve the site. Browsers typically allow cookies, but you may adjust settings (though this may affect navigation).

Can Users Be Identified When Accessing RDP?

No. Without login, we cannot access your name, email, phone number, age, or any sensitive data.

What Are We Not Responsible For?

Our site contains links to external websites. While we avoid sharing links that misuse data, always review the privacy policies of sites you visit.

RDP is not responsible for third-party use of personal data in published articles, as authors consent to open-access publication.
