Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process
The peer review process for articles submitted to the Revista Eletrônica Direito e Política is characterized by a double-blind evaluation system and involves sequential stages: desk review, reviewer evaluation, revisions (when necessary), text editing, and publication formatting.

During the desk review stage, the editors meet to analyze the submitted articles to assess their relevance to the journal's scope and their potential to make a significant contribution to knowledge in the field of study. When necessary, editors involve members of the scientific committee in this process.

If the submitted work is not in line with the journal's policies, the authors are notified of the decision within thirty days from the submission date.

Articles approved in the desk review stage are forwarded to two specialists who are part of the journal's reviewer body for evaluation under the Double Blind Review system, or to external researchers selected for their expertise in the article’s field of study.

Reviewers are professors and researchers affiliated with stricto sensu postgraduate programs at national or international academic institutions. Articles are evaluated based on the relevance of the topic, writing quality, logical coherence of the theoretical review with the appropriate use of references, adequacy of the methodological procedures, depth and consistency of the analysis, clarity of conclusions, and the significance of contributions, according to a predefined form provided to the reviewers. This stage of the review process may take up to one month, after which the authors are notified of the editorial decision.

Possible Outcomes
After the evaluation, the Editor may make the following decisions:

  • Accepted;

  • Mandatory revisions;

  • Rejected.

Once the requested adjustments are made and verified by the reviewers and editors, the articles undergo a review for spelling, grammar, and conformity with the journal's formatting guidelines, followed by final publication layout.

Note: If there are disagreements among the reviewers, the Editor may select a third reviewer or reject the manuscript.
