MATCH-FIXING IN FOOTBALL AND THE BETTING MARKET: THE ROLE OF THE BRAZILIAN SUPERIOR SPORTS JUSTICE COURT AS A MECHANISM FOR THE PRODUCTION AND APPLICATION OF LAW

Contextualization: The expansion of sports betting in Brazil has intensified economic and institutional impacts on professional football. Despite regulatory advances, the risks of match-fixing and sports corruption have increased. The transnational nature of football challenges the effectiveness of national sports legislation.
Objectives: To analyze the legal challenges arising from the regulation of sports betting in Brazil. To examine the protection of competition integrity and the role of Sports Justice. To assess the need for harmonization between national norms and international regulations.
Method: Qualitative research of a bibliographic and documentary nature. Analysis of national legislation and international regulations applicable to sport. Examination of case studies and institutional reports on match-fixing.
Results: Regulatory progress is identified, although gaps in prevention and sanctioning of illicit conduct remain. The territorial nature of sanctions limits their effectiveness in the face of the global dynamics of football. It is concluded that greater international cooperation and stronger sports governance are necessary.
