BUEN VIVIR, SUSTAINABILITY, AND SAFE MOBILITY FOR WOME

Abstract

Contextualization: Safe urban mobility, from the perspective of women's fundamental rights, faces structural obstacles stemming from the multiple forms of gender-based violence present in public transportation. Black, low-income, and peripheral women represent the majority of system users and, at the same time, are the most vulnerable to physical, symbolic, and institutional violence.

Objective: The general objective is to analyze the limitations of current public transportation policies in light of the guidelines of the New Urban Agenda and to propose alternatives grounded in social sustainability and the paradigm of buen vivir, conceived as an ethical-political project guided by gender equity and urban justice.

Methodology: The adopted methodology is investigative in nature, based on a review of specialized literature, analysis of regulatory documents, and empirical data produced by specialized agencies.

Results: The current public transportation model, as structured, reproduces patriarchal and exclusionary patterns, demanding a profound reformulation of collective mobility policies. Building truly safe, accessible, and fair urban mobility requires the adoption of a new citizenship paradigm, centered on the buen vivir of women and the development of intersectoral and equitable public policies.
